Karen has been in the Oregon Public School System for over 20 years. First as a classroom assistant in the Eugene area and then as a certified teacher. She graduated from the University of Oregon with a Masters Degree in Special Education. Karen has a passion for teaching and an exceptional ability to connect with children. Her extensive training and experience with children has helped her to make great strides with students having substantial obstacles to learning.

Her tenure within the public school system has exposed the many limitations that public schools have when addressing the needs of children falling behind. Obviously, having a child that is struggling in school and becoming more and more frustrated can be heart wrenching for a parent. But where can that parent turn for help?

That was Karen's motivation for beginning "Road" Scholar Tutoring Service. Karen's love for children, teaching, and the desire to make a difference has taken priority over a lucrative and secure career in the public schools.
